This 20 min yoga stretch provides a deep hip stretch for flexibility.
Many of us store our emotions in the hip region. When we feel threatened, react to stressors, or whatever the heighten emotion may be, some of us physically respond by tensing in this part of our body. After the threat is gone or stressors subside, there is still the emotional scar within our body. When we don’t process these emotions, they stay stagnant and hinder us from moving on. Focusing on deep hip opening poses is a way to open yourself up to processing and understanding what is at the root of your emotions. So whether you are just looking to get a feel-good deep hip opening from this yoga stretch or maybe processing emotional holding within this area, I encourage you to have a journal handy to either jot down anything that pops up during the stretch or as a gentle reminder for you to write down after what you felt during the practice.
Set a safe, loving environment for your practice today. Have props nearby to best support you throughout the practice to meet your body where it is at so you feel safe and supported.
